Innovative ideas and improved services are changing the public’s attitude towards the Calgary Parking Authority. In fact, new services are attracting and impressing customers while complaints have decreased by 40%.
Alderman Gael MacLeod serves on the Calgary Parking Authority Committee and welcomes the new direction taken by CPA. Customer service improvements, space usage optimization and other identified efficiencies are bringing positive results on a variety of levels.
Gael was pleased to draw on her business and governance background when she joined the board in 2010.
She is proud to support a new vision for the Calgary Parking Authority and the implementation of recommendations from the strategic review conducted last year.
"It’s evident that new leadership and a new strategic direction have resulted in positive steps forward,” says Alderman MacLeod.

Recent service improvements include the introduction of:
- real-time parking space availability updates on CPA website
- $5. Fridays, parking from 11 am Fri. to 6 am Sat. in downtown parkades
- rewards program for frequent ParkPlus users, and
- lighting changes to simplify identifying available spots
The Authority operates without using any municipal tax revenues. Surplus CPA funds are used by the city to operate recreation centres, libraries and other services. Last year, the returned surplus amounted to $13.1 million.
