Gael was humbled by the support she received in the 2010 municipal election and is proud to represent the citizens of Ward 4.

She moved into her new role facing complex challenges and difficult choices, strongly committed to representing the interests of Ward 4 residents throughout every decision-making process.

Born in the Maritimes, Gael has lived in Calgary for more than 35 years, making the Ward 4 community of Sandstone her home since 1995.

Gael brings over 20 years of executive, business and financial management experience with her to City Hall.

Prior to the 2010 election, Gael was the Executive Director of the Alberta Real Estate Foundation. Her business experience includes 15 years in the banking and finance industry, where she worked her way up from bank teller to mortgage officer to branch administrator. Gael also worked for the Treasury Department at the Government of Alberta and has managed her own financial services company.

Leadership and commitment to issues of importance to Ward 4 and Calgary.

Gael’s contribution to the Calgary community can be seen through her commitment to affordable housing and the non-profit sector. She was a Board Member of the Beddington Community Association and on the

Board of Directors for Attainable Homes Calgary Corporation – a city-owned corporation that facilitates home ownership for low income Calgarians.

Gael worked with various non-profit organizations in Calgary through her role on the 10-year Plan to End Homelessness and was chair of the Board of Directors of the Calgary Community Lottery Board, which annually allocated $15.2 million of provincial lottery revenues to various non-profit organizations in Calgary.

She has also sat on the Board of Directors for the Calgary Chamber of

Voluntary Organizations and the YWCA of Calgary.

Enthusiasm and a strong track record of getting things done.

Gael's combined background and community leadership puts her in a position to effect action and make real changes that work for all Calgarians.

When not engaged in her community activities, Gael is an active runner and swimmer, and spends her free time exploring the pathways of Calgary.
